the “new” generation is the one that’s interesting and hopeful. enough with the i want more stuff people, and the i’m real and you’re fake people. it’s boring and so 20th century. and “smaller goverment, lower taxes, and a strong defense” has NOT worked.

McCain is definitely not Reagan, but neither is he part of the “Ivy League intellectuals are the enemy” crowd. And while all Republicans rally around small government and lower taxes, there are many areas on which the two wings disagree.

I don’t think I’d agree with you that McCain is part of the “Reagan wing” of the republican party. Reagan never compromised to get democrats to go along with his ideas. For his entire career McCain has been willing to compromise his ideas. It’s the nature of the beast in the Senate. There is not that much of a gap between the “Palin” wing, the so called moral conservatives and the smaller goverment, strong defense conservatives. There is a huge gap between the “Palin” wing and the “can’t we just get along” wing of the party.

Republican conservatisim was not on the top of the ticket this election. It’s time to send the RINO’s packing. Elections are won by being center right, not trying to appeal to moderate democrats. Sure they are welcome in the party, but as supporters of smaller goverment, lower taxes, and a strong defense. Visit my blog at conservativerevival.
